Born Free

I would think that slavery has not played a part in my life because
I was born free.
I never had to pick cotton or sweep up after "the White Man"
I was never denied learning how to read and write.
&&
Nobody ever told me I couldn't do anything because I was black.

But wait.
I was born in iniquity
born into sin.
I was, born into these lustful thoughts.
I was born into fear, and doubt.
I was born into disrespectin my parents.

&&then I think
Doesn't that make me slave to my own sin?
